We’re opening the kitchen at The Hawthorns – a brand‑new venue at the heart of South Normanton – and we’re looking for a Head Chef to lead the charge.
This is a rare opportunity to shape a kitchen from the ground up, combining the comfort of a classic carvery with the excitement of themed restaurant nights. We want someone who thrives on creativity, consistency, and community.
What You’ll Do
• Design & deliver menus that balance tradition and innovation – from Sunday carvery to themed evenings (Mediterranean, Smokehouse, Curry Night, etc.).
• Lead the kitchen team with energy and professionalism, setting high standards for food quality, safety, and service.
• Control costs & margins while maintaining flair – you’ll have freedom to create, but with the numbers in mind.
• Work with management to align menus with events, sports nights, and community programming.
• Champion local engagement – sourcing where possible from regional suppliers and tailoring dishes to customer feedback.
What We’re Looking For
• Proven experience as Head Chef or Senior Sous in a busy pub/restaurant environment.
• Strong carvery knowledge plus the imagination to deliver themed menus.
• Leadership skills: able to inspire, train, and manage a small but ambitious team.
• Commercial awareness: confident with stock, margins, and supplier benchmarking.
• Passion for hospitality and making The Hawthorns a true village hub.
