You’ll be responsible for washing dishes and equipment, keeping preparation and storage areas clean, handling deliveries and waste, and helping ensure the kitchen is safe and ready for service.

You’ll work closely with the Executive Chef or Operational Lead and other kitchen colleagues, helping the team operate efficiently and supporting basic food preparation tasks when required. Being organised, dependable and willing to respond to changing priorities will be important to the role.

·       Kitchen essentials: Wash and sanitise utensils and essentials, including knives, cutting boards and other food preparation equipment, following appropriate procedures.

·       Refrigerators and freezers: Keep refrigerators and freezers clean, organised and tidy to support food hygiene standards.

·       Deliveries and storage: Assist with receiving deliveries and place ingredients in the correct storage areas in accordance with food safety procedures.

·       Waste and recycling: Empty bins and transfer waste and recycling to the designated external collection bins.

·       Basic food preparation: Assist line cooks and junior chefs with basic preparation tasks as required, including chopping and peeling vegetables.

·       Hygiene and food safety awareness: Follow cleaning procedures, maintain high hygiene standards and comply with health and safety requirements.

·       Initiative and independence: Recognise what needs to be done and complete tasks without always needing to be instructed.

·       Reliability and punctuality: Arrive on time, follow instructions and consistently complete assigned duties.

·       Willingness to learn: Take feedback positively and learn new cleaning methods, equipment procedures and kitchen routines.

Qualifications and Experience

The following are desirable but not essential:

·       Food Safety and Hygiene Certification.

·       Over three years’ experience in a high-pressure kitchen environment.

A reliable, practical and positive approach, together with a willingness to learn and support the wider kitchen team, will be important to success in this role.
